The Greenery Nursery School was established in 1992. Located at Swanmore Village Hall, we have a large dedicated area within the building and benefit from a substantial outdoor area . We also have access to other areas when required to use for extra physical activities, such as drama, country dancing and P.E.
We fully embrace and put into practice the Government's 'Early Years Foundation Stage' (EYFS) at the same time organizing the school along traditional lines. We believe that children should be loved, valued and cared for and then learning follows. Every child is unique and we ensure that each child feels confident to reach their full potential and enjoys a happy, exciting and rich nursery education.
The children are free to choose their own activities and encouraged to be independent and make choices. Adult led short activities enhance and extend the individual learning programme and these are skillfully put in place in a fun and relaxed manner to enrich the child led learning already taking place.
Parents are the child's primary teacher and we actively encourage parental inclusion in various ways. The children are encouraged to bring items from home to go on the 'interest table' and this is a weekly focus for discussion. Parents join us for singing sessions and a coffee morning each half term, they are always welcome and actively encouraged to sign up on the 'parent helper' rota. Whole school outings are organised to include parents and some evening social events are arranged during the year.
The owner and headteacher of the nursery school is Mrs Pauline Didymus. She is a fully qualified infant teacher with many years teaching experience and qualified at Portsmouth University with the Government standard of excellence 'Early Years Professional Status'. The manager of the nursery school is Mrs Hannah Wallace who is fully qualified and has many years experience managing early years settings.
Pauline has five other members of staff employed at the school and is registered for 38 children.
We are registered for children aged 18 months to rising 5's and children are eligible for 30 hours free each week, from the term following their 3rd birthday, or in certain circumstances immediately after reaching the age of two.
