Early Years Foundation Stage
Early Learning Goals
The early years foundation stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old. Each area of the EYFS curriculum has an early learning goal (ELG).The early learning goals (ELG's) can be accessed through the links below.
"A child can use their established or preferred mode of communication for all the ELGs except Speaking. In this case practitioners should give additional detail about the child’s understanding and preferred means of communication in their EYFS profile record".
The Greenery Nursery School uses the early learning resource 'Tapestry' to gather and record each child's level of development and their next steps of learning and understanding. We gather information about each child in a number of different ways, including 'one off ' observations, samples of children's work, photographs and contributions from parents. The child will mostly be taught through games and play.
Each child is allocated a 'key person'who is responsible for putting together information on how your child is developing and they will always be available to discuss your child's progress. As practitioners, we build up a significant professional knowledge of each child and use this judgement to provide extensive evidence for each of the Early Learning Goals (ELG's).
There are three prime areas of learning and four specific areas of learning. These are the goals we work towards for each and every child in our care.
